The Pocket Interpreters™ for the
workplace are designed for use in specific work environments, such
as Hotel & Motel Housekeeping or Lawn Care, where English
speakers and Spanish speakers need to communicate very specific
terminology. We have worked with industry experts to identify what
that terminology is and have included it on the Pocket Interpreter™.
Unnecessary words are not included.
You will be able to communicate
effectively on the job with the Pocket Interpreter™, but you
will not be able to communicate beyond the job, for example,
ordering a burrito in Spanish in your favorite Mexican restaurant
or buying sunglasses in Cancun.
The important words are written in
both English and Spanish. Many words also have colorful pictures.
You can say the words, or, if you want, simply point to the words
and pictures.
To make communication even simpler,
we have left out words that are not necessary to understanding.
These are helper words like "a," "an" and
"the." This means the language will not be perfect, but
the understanding will be clear. This really makes your
communication much easier. Spanish nouns have gender (masculine
and feminine) and use different helping words depending on the
gender. The result is that you do not have to worry about gender.
Since most communication on the job
involves giving instructions and understanding the instructions,
the action words (verbs) are in the command form. All you have to
remember is a simple 1 - 2 - 3 process: Action - Target - Target
Location.
Mow
- grass - next to house Corte
-zacate - junto a casa.
With the Pocket

Next just use the 1 -
2 - 3 process.
1. Choose the action
you want to communicate, for example, vacuum
- aspire. Simply point to the words.
2. Choose the target
of the action, curtains - cortinas.
Point to the icon and the words.
3. Point to the
location, behind - detrás
de and the target location, bed
- cama.
You have just
communicated vacuum curtains behind bed aspire
cortinas detrás de cama without
saying a word. Of course, if you want, you can say the words too.
The Pocket Interpreter™
also gives you the capability to ask questions, express key ideas
and communicate essential information such as numbers.

Oh, when you are
finished, fold the Pocket Interpreter™ and put it back in your
pocket until you need it again.
Thousands
of different sentences possible
The Pocket Interpreter™ gives you
the capability of communicating thousands of sentences. It is
easy. For example, take the action word repair
- repare. You can combine it with
different target words such as lawn mower
- segadora de pasto, weed
eater - macaneadora, sprinkler
- rociador, etc.
Simply by changing the action words
or the target words a huge number of ideas, commands and sentences
can be communicated.
