E-mail Beginner Educational Series (60 Lessons)

The Vine Times Rating:
4 out of 5 Glasses
(Excellent)

From Master Sommelier Catherine Fallis, this is one of the best educational series we have seen. The 60 lesson e-mail educational series covers all the bases in an easy to understand format.

WINE LESSONS: The ``Grape Goddess Guide to Wine'' is almost like a daily devotional for anyone who wants to learn more about all things vinous. The one-minute lessons -- which are part pep talk, part education -- arrive Monday through Friday by e-mail. There's a text component, such as a tip or an exercise, and an audio component from the Grape Goddess herself, Master Sommelier Catherine Fallis, a Bay Area educator, writer and consultant.

In 1997, Fallis became only the fifth woman in the world to achieve the title of Master Sommelier. But don't let the lofty title fool you: She's very down-to-earth and a staunch opponent of wine snobbery.

The programs come in two levels, beginner and intermediate. For now, there is no version available for Macintosh. Thirty one-minute lessons are $9.95; for $19.95, you get 60 of them. To sign up, go to www.planetgrape.com. The site also has some sample lessons.
